Confirmation

In the Sacrament of Confirmation, the presider (often a Bishop) extends his hands over the candidate(s) in prayer, and anoints their forehead(s) with the Sacred Chrism which a bishop has blessed.

Through this Sacrament, the Holy Spirit descends upon the candidate(s) in a special way to complete their initiation process into their faith and give the candidate(s) the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit, so that they can live out their faith in all of its fullness.

With the grace of the Holy Spirit, those Confirmed are to share the Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ just as the Apostles went out after they received the Holy Spirit at the first Pentecost.
